ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS Thought for the Day: Above everything else – everything else – clothe yourself with love. How many of us clothe ourselves based more on how we are feeling in the moment? We clothe ourselves with hate for no other reason than we are insecure about ourselves; clothe ourselves with arrogance because deep down we think most people are stupid; clothe ourselves with selfishness in the belief that others are less deserving; clothe ourselves with bitterness since it didn’t go our way. If you, above everything else, are clothing yourself with something other than love, then you should take a closer look at your spiritual closet. Maybe its time to do an inventory and rid yourself of whatever is unhealthy. Keep some compassion, mercy, generosity, faithfulness, patience, kindness, but the rest shouldn’t even be sent to the second hand clothing store. No one else needs it either. Doing a purge is a lot more challenging than most might think. Begin with prayer, and ask to see more clearly what is close at hand and too easy to grab. If anger is hiding love, you’ll rarely push it aside to grab love. Do the needed work in advance so that love is your go-to outfit. Prayer: I’ve got some work to do, Merciful God. I know you’ll work with me, but there are some outfits that may not be very becoming. Sadly, I’ve grown used to wearing them. My heart wants to wear more and more of the qualities seen in Jesus, those that point to your kingdom. May it be so! Amen. via WordPress https://ift.tt/3ksyTLh
