ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS
July 14, 2023 God is often referred to as the Alpha and the Omega (the A and Z in the Greek alphabet), the beginning and the end. In the opening words of scripture, God clearly precedes creation and is understood as something other than creation. Yet this God, who existed prior to the first spark of life, is One who intimately involves the divine self in every aspect of the created order. Though God is not defined by time and history, God still chooses to be completely engaged in that which is defined by time and history. As one who is defined by those parameters, I’m glad God has made that choice. Though I do not comprehend how what is eternal could interact with the finite, I am thankful that you, O Lord, have made it happen. Amen.
