ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS

Prayer for the Week: 
For everyone who is angry
For everyone who feels exhausted
For everyone who believes 
   we are better than this
For everyone who has convinced him/herself 
   that the answer to it all is found in a meme -
For everyone, Merciful God, a vision is sought 
   of how justice and kindness 
   can be enfleshed in the human community.
Your prophets spoke of a day 
   when hatred and distrust would give way 
   to peace that would be rooted 
   in fairness and inclusion for all -
It would emerge from the margins
It would be born into 
   the repression and dearth of a manger
It would turn the world 
   upside down with stories
It would continue to seek 
   reconciliation from a cross.
This vision, 
   whose nativity bridged heaven and earth,
   demanded the abundant life for all.
The vision is clear
The day is today
It is time for the Body of Christ 
   to enflesh justice and kindness.
May it be so!
