ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS Listen To Today’s Etching Thought for the Day: These words are found in a chapter with what might be described as a mixed bag of emotions. There are “woes” (woe to you…) that are always frightening to hear, but in this verse the prophet is full of hope, especially the language of being our arm every morning. I remember the days following my knee surgeries and the early morning walk to the bathroom. I imagine some of you know that experience well. It was good to have an arm to lean on. In my case, it was Donna. Overnight, the joint had stiffened up and making a quick run to the bathroom was not an option. She was there, whether I tried it with both crutches or only one. Now having God at our side doesn’t put an end to all stumbles and falls, but there are times when we need that Holy Presence to lean on spiritually and emotionally. God is faithful, ever present in our moments of weakness. In Donna’s case, I often had to wake her if I was going to get some assistance, but God needs no wake-up call. What God asks of us is to trust and to put some of the weight on the divine arm. God can handle it. Prayer: Allow for my relationship with you, Gracious God, to grow in such a way that I feel comfortable reaching out for you and trusting you’ll be there. Thank you for giving me the time to get my balance, to feel a bit more steady in my life’s journey… always knowing that you’ll be there no matter the circumstance. Amen. via WordPress https://ift.tt/30RN2ug
