ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS

February 9, 2023
Today, we will be gathering at 1:30pm or 6:30pm to continue our study of Philippians. We sort of made it through the first chapter last week, but as I think about today’s classes, I am drawn back to the words, "Most important, live together in a manner worthy of Christ’s gospel" (1:27). For Paul to use the words "most important" is no small thing. He does not come off as someone who would be hasty or careless in choosing how to communicate an idea. In the ancient world, especially when you were a small and rather insignificant religious movement, how you presented yourself was everything. I’m certain Paul wanted those within the faith community to treat one another well, but more importantly, it was about putting forth a clear vision of what a Christ-like community was all about. What do people see and experience at Cypress Creek Christian Church?

I seek to live a life, O God, worthy of Christ Jesus and the Good News of your love. I do so as a way of honoring you, blessing others, and helping communicate a clear picture of the world you have called us to create. Amen.
