ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS
October 13, 2024 Cypress Creek Christian Church had quite a day yesterday. If some people look a little exhausted and I mumble during part of the sermon, please understand that a lot of good energy was released into the universe as the church invited people into the Pumpkin Patch, blessed Animals and Stuffed Animals, and offered some words of grace and kindness at the Woodlands Pride Event. Next year, we’ll try not to schedule quite as much on one day, but once again, the Spirit invited the church to express the Gospel in some tangible and life-giving ways, and the church chose to honor the Spirit’s invitation. When people wonder what the church does, yesterday was a microcosm of the church meeting people where they are, affirming the amazing creatures within God’s creation, loving people as God created them to be, and choosing to do so with joy and spirited fun. Is this all the church needs to be doing? Absolutely not! But we did pack a lot into a single day. Continue to bless your church, O God who first blessed Sarah and Abraham with the purpose of being a blessing to the world. May the life-giving message of Jesus be both the inspiration of what we do and the model for how we do it. Amen.
