ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS

It’s wonderful to talk with you, my dear friend, the Source of Love, and of course, the One I know as my God. Even on those days when I feel I have nothing to say, I find comfort in your presence. By faith, I know you are listening, fully comprehending the words I share and the emotions that lie beneath those words. You see through any hint of arrogance that pretends to hide those insecurities that too often define me in ways I do not wish to name. As I speak to you in what many would call a prayer, but I see more as a heart-to-heart with a companion and confidant, I will confess that I am hoping for a little encouragement for the tough stuff I know is coming, but even more so, I seek some fortitude for the stuff I do not know is coming. Once again, I want to express my gratitude for your presence, your attentive listening, and for the way you continue to shape me through the beauty and transformative power of unconditional love. I offer this prayer in the name of that other divine expression of friendship, Jesus. Amen.
