ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS
September 19, 2024 So… we raised a lot of money for a new playground at Cypress Creek Christian Church. I was in awe of people’s generosity. Together, we made it happen. Of course, that was a couple of months ago. Where is the new playground? Well, yesterday, they were out marking underground electrical and other stuff we don’t want them hitting during installation. Another team will be out first thing this morning, and assuming they find no problems, they plan to do the installation Friday and Saturday, and if necessary, finish Sunday afternoon. Though I am always cautious to make an announcement before something is absolutely certain, I am feeling very good about this. And the timing will be perfect! We are going to have a lot of children on our property throughout the month of October, and that playground is going to see a lot of smiles and hear a lot of laughter. I share this because the church is a place of Good News, and though we associate the Good News with God’s unconditional and limitless love, and we should, it is important for us to acknowledge how a playground communicates to children their importance, inspires delight, and says to parents that we don’t just appreciate your children on Sunday morning but any time they want to come by and play. Generous God, continue to expand our thinking in regard to what Good News can be, especially in the eyes of children. Amen.
