ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS
September 9, 2024 Prayer for the Week: Creative One, Creating Spirit, there is a forever work of making and remaking, shaping and reshaping of our lives. This assumes that we have not allowed the clay of our souls to be fired in a kiln of hopelessness, loneliness, or forsakenness. Yet too often, life and circumstance appear to have solidified and fossilized any possibility of any potentiality. It can truly feel as if life has concluded prior to death drawing near. Why does scripture seem to suggest that overwhelming despair shall not have the final word? Could it be that you can reconstitute a hardened heart? Is there something in you, O God, that refuses to give up? Grace and mercy appear to have never tossed in the towel, even when we have resigned ourselves to what is or acquiesced to what we have perceived as a tenebrous future. Let us reclaim a belief in your never-ceasing creativity of possibility. Let us in faith see how there is in you a forever work of making and remaking, shaping and reshaping every human life. Amen.
