Prayer for the Week: What do we pray for as we awaken to a hurricane? Do we wish the storm to go elsewhere, missing us but showing up on someone else’s doorstep? What do we pray for on a day like this? Holy God, listen to us—not to our ramblings that struggle for understanding, but to the contents of our hearts. We love you, yet we acknowledge some anxiety as we think about our current situation and that of others in the path of this storm. In the end, remind us that we are not alone, as we are forever surrounded by your compassionate Spirit and your grace-filled presence. Let us pause long enough to identify and grab hold of your loving kindness that has been holding us ever-so-close all our lives. Amen.
