ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS
June 7, 2025 Borrowed from our friend, Rev. Dr. Terry Ewing, Vice President of Advancement at Phillips Theological Seminary “The quieter you become, the more you can hear.” --Ram Dass, eastern mystic. Talk. Talk. Talk. Too often I realize that I am the only one talking. Too often I realize that I seem to need activity and noise around me. Too often I realize that the threads of distraction have become ropes reeling around every fiber of my life. Too often my own healing stillness, so near yet pushed and hidden so far away, has become out of reach. I am wrapped up tight, bound by my rushing and sound-filled habits. I can’t believe I could ever “be still.” And so, I can’t be still and convince myself, “I can’t be still”. For a moment, just now. For no more than a few seconds, be still. Quiet yourself. Listening to your breathing, let your breath breeze-away distractions. Are you listening?
