ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS
May 8, 2025 A visionary corporation typically focuses on the next 8 to 10 years. While they may discuss longer-term goals as far out as 20 or 25 years, they must prioritize meeting the expectations of their investors in the upcoming quarter. Consequently, they often make sacrifices in regard to the long term to achieve immediate gains. In Proverbs 13:22, we read: Good people leave their grandchildren an inheritance, but the wealth of sinners is stored up for the righteous. As people of faith, we should think more long term. There is a Native American Proverb that says, “We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” What might we be borrowing today that will greatly burden our children and children’s children? Give me the spiritual strength, O God, to live more respectfully and frugally so that generations from now will be able to simply live. Amen.
