ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS

As I sit down to write on this Sunday evening, I wish to give thanks for the gift of music. The concert this evening was extraordinary, and for that reason, I offer a prayer of thanksgiving.

God, we give you thanks for the human instrument known as the voice. We give you thanks for those who add their voice to the collective, and in doing so, are able to create something so much more than the sum of their parts. We give you thanks for composers who dream and feel the music before it is even written. We give you thanks for talented musicians who accompany the voices, bringing depth to the offering. We give you thanks for people like Dr. Joel Plaag who work tirelessly behind the scenes so that rehearsals and performances achieve their intended goal. We give you thanks, Lord God, for being the inspiration and tenacity behind it all. We give you thanks in all things. Amen.
