ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS
April 3, 2025 When the church decides to be the church and not simply protect or glorify a church building, miracles have been known to happen. I’m not suggesting someone leaps from a wheelchair and begins to dance, but I have witnessed someone confined by a low sense of self-worth, only to meet Jesus in his present embodied expression known as the church, and their demeanor was forever changed. They are upright and empowered emotionally and spiritually, and the implications can be seen physically. Since arriving at Cypress Creek Christian Church almost fourteen years ago, I have been impressed by a church that did not protect or glorify a building. But in recent years, I have witnessed the church choosing to be the church, reflecting the stories found in the Book of Acts, including an outpouring of the Spirit in the form of embracing and affirming love, especially for those who have known unholy confinement. The world does not need another building. Instead, it needs your Spirit-filled church, ready to honor you by being Jesus for a world needing a genuine expression of the Gospel of love. Amen.
