Prayer for the Week: Holy God, as we cross this threshold, standing on the edge between one year lived and one yet waiting to be lived, we acknowledge missed opportunities and some outright disasters in our attempts to embody the ways of Jesus. We are thankful for mercy that meets the sins of omission and commission with kindness and hope. We are also thankful for what can be learned from history and what can be gleaned from the guidance of the Living Christ. It is at the intersection of an honest understanding of the past and the wisdom to discern a better future that we believe healing and transformation will emerge. Despite the pessimism of many, we look to the hope-filled promises of 2024. We offer our prayer in the name of the one who seeks to shape this year for the purpose of bringing more goodness, compassion, and grace into the world. Amen.
