I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 9, 1966; the fourth and final child to Dr. Robert and Lois Frogge. At the time of his death in 1969, my father was a professor at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. The following summer my family returned to Lincoln, Nebraska, where my parents had met and lived earlier in their marriage. I grew up at First Christian Church of Lincoln where I was active in every aspect of the local and regional church. During high school, I had the opportunity to attend the International Affairs Seminary, a trip to New York and Washington, D.C., where I was confronted for the first time with issues of social injustice. Ten years later, I would go as a sponsor on that same trip.
During college at Phillips University, I took advantage of a semester study program in Sweden. Along with this wonderful educational opportunity, I was able to spend time traveling in southern Europe and two weeks in the Soviet Union. The experience with young Soviet students opened my eyes to the humanity of those that had been demonized. It was a good lesson to always look deeper than the labels used to define and discredit. After graduating from Christian Theological Seminary in 1993, I moved to Kansas City to take my first full time ministry position. While in Kansas City, I met my wife, Donna. A Call to Ministry I love the story of Saul’s conversion found in the ninth chapter of Acts. The imagery and power found within the story is brimming with potential for preaching and teaching. A persecutor of the church was humbled physically and spiritually by the voice of the living Christ, and Saul turned from his old way and toward God.
